Frequently Asked Questions

Our Products

What size mounting poles/pipe do the KU and KM Series fit on?

60mm outside diameter (O.D.) gal pipe. Commonly known as 2” water pipe. We recommend around a 2 meter length.

Are mounting poles supplied with all powerheads?

Because you can save money in freight if you source the poles locally, we don’t generally supply them. But, if you get stuck, we are more than happy out and provide them for you.

What is the difference between the KU Series and KM Series?

The KM Series includes kWh meters for monitoring site power usage. The KU Series is unmetered.

Do you have a master key available?

Yes, we do! Please give us a call so we can match the right master key to your powerheads.

What warranties do your products carry?

We stake our reputation non quality. See the table below for a full list of our product warranties, or download as a document.

Electrical

Are 10A or 15A outlets the standard in caravan parks?

The Australian electrical standards for caravan parks (AS/NZS 3001) specify a minimum rating of 15A outlets for site power supply. This is because most campers carry 15A power leads. However, site power supply can be limited to under the 15A by using a lower rated RCBO to protect the 15A outlet.

What is the difference between a circuit breaker (MCB) and a safety switch (RCD)?

An MCB protects against excessive current being drawn through the circuit, protecting the electrical cabling and socket outlet from damage. RCDs are designed to protect people from electrocution, by disconnection an electrical circuit in the event of an electrical fault or accident.

Are safety switches (RCDs) mandatory?

Yes. The Australian electrical standards for caravan parks (AS/NZS 3001) specify each socket outlet within a powerhead must have safety switch protection.

What electrical terminations are supplied inside the powerhead?

Active and earth cable terminations are made onto a 6mm threaded stud. A neutral bar with 16mm tunnels is provided for the neutral terminations.

Can your powerheads accommodate three phase electrical supply?

Yes. Just let us know when requesting a quote and we will make the appropriate allowance. The standard connection provided is for single phase supply.

Which Australian Electrical Standards apply to Powerheads?

ASNZS 3001, to be read in conjunction with ASNZS 3000.

My supply cables are too large to bring into the Powerhead. What should I do?

It is permissible to break gauge and reduce the size of your incoming supply cable to allow for safe connection inside the powerhead.

Installation

How long does it take to install a powerhead?

There are a range of factors that can affect installation time. Simply removing an existing powerhead and replacing it with a new one, utilising the existing electrical supply cabling and mounting pole, can be done in under an hour. For more complex installations, an electrician will be able to give you an indication of the install time.

How do I install the powerhead?

All our products are pre wired. All you need to do is connect the incoming supply cables (active, neutral and earth) onto the termination points provided. Please see our installation guide for the appropriate model for more detail.

Do you install the powerheads?

We’re devoted to making the safest, most innovative, highest quality powerheads available. And that requires our full time dedication. For that reason, we don’t install the powerheads. A qualified electrician will be able to look after that for you.
